Nigella’s Avocado on toast

Last year Britain’s favourite TV chef Nigella Lawson stirred up a little attention on social media, this was thanks to a segment on her BBC Two cookery programme ‘Simply Nigella’. Not since Delia Smith made a programme about how to boil an egg has a cookery programme created so much controversy.

Despite the simplicity of avocado on toast, you can’t really beat the genius of the idea. Bread is always something that we have in, and whether it’s a snack before bed or your first choice for breakfast, it’s a treat that can be ready in no time. As many will still see the avocado as something of an exotic fruit, pairing it with something that we all have readily available to us will just about solve that “I just don’t know what to do with it” problem.

Homemade Guacamole

Everyone loves chips & dips and guacamole is the ultimate dip. Don’t settle for sloppy shop bought guacamole though, make your own. It takes no time at all and tastes great.

What you need:

1 Large Tomato
1 Large Ripe Avocado
1 Small Onion
1 Garlic Clove
1 Red Chilli (Optional)
1 Lemon or 1 Lime
Half a teaspoon of  Ground Cumin Powder
Fresh Coriander


  • First of all half the avocado and remove the stone, separate the fruit from the skin and add to a mixing bowl.


  • Next finely chop your garlic and add to the avocado. Do the same with the tomato, the red chilli and the onion.


  • Half the lemon (or lime) and squeeze over the mixture. (You may only need half a lemon for this but apply to your taste).


  • Add the Cumin and together with a fork. You can blend in a food mixer if you would like a smoother consistency.


  • Finally chop the fresh coriander to garnish and serve.

Fitting avocado in to your diet really is that simple. One thing to remember about your detox diet is that eating the right kind of foods is important too. Don’t forget to order your supply of detox tea today.
