Achieving your Goals:

Setting goals is an excellent way to start a journey off. Whether that journey is weight-loss or something completely different. For this post we will be talking in the context of weight-loss, although it should apply to everything in general.


Motivation is key to completing goals, if you have no motivation or drive to go out running, what’s stopping you from staying in? Each of us have different methods of motivation, whether its self motivation or its gained from somewhere else, its imperative to find something that motivates you. We will talk a little bit about some of the more common methods of motivation here.

Self motivation is finding a way for yourself to get motivated. Finding out what drives you. Do you want to reach this weight-loss goal because someone said you should lose weight, or do you want to achieve it because its something that you feel like you want to do. Telling yourself you can do this, that you will not give up is a very effective way to keep yourself motivated, because if you don’t believe in yourself you won’t be going anywhere fast.

Team motivation is being part of a group, motivating each other to accomplish goals, such as training together at a gym or being a part of a sports team. Team motivation can be one of the main roles of a group/team leader or personal trainer for example. It is important to motivate each other when working as part of a team so everyone gets the maximum benefits and reaches the best possible outcome of the activity.

Goal setting:

Setting the right goals, that are realistic and achievable, is of course a very important step in the process of actually achieving them. If you are training with someone who is already extremely fit and healthy, and you’re just getting started, you are not going to have the same goals, perhaps the same end goals, but they should be different from progress goals.


Having a passion for what it is your doing is an excellent motivator. If you get up every morning and do something you really love doing, then you should have all the motivation you need. If you want to find a way to do something you love while completing a specific goal, try and find something that relates to doing what you love. For example, if you want to exercise a bit more, and enjoy the outdoors and walking, go for a walk around a forest, explore somewhere new, take your dog for a walk, walk the neighbours dog, there’s lots of things really!

To conclude:

In my opinion, motivation is key to success and achieving end goals, so don’t overlook it. If you wake up in the morning and feel demotivated, find something that will motivate you, because you will benefit from the activity a whole lot more!
